Lemongrass does have antibacterial function and it is important to understand that “unfriendly bacteria” reside in the gut differently than “friendly bacteria” (probiotics) in how they are recognized by our bodies immune system with genetic information to detect “foreign” invasion to the gut environment.
With regards to it "killing" good bacteria, it does to some extent until normal healthy flora is established. Lemongrass oil content has a soothing effect on the gut lining and the exposed good bacteria are more in harmony association to normal gut flora and “kill” activity is not needed.
